Local expressways offer excellent road connections to the rest of Japan, perfect for exploring the stunning countryside. One of the only cities in Japan to feature entire districts of well-preserved Edo-era architecture, Kanazawa is celebrated as a center for traditional Japanese arts. Modern art isn't forgotten though, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa is one of the best in the country.
